Welcome to My Studio

Hello and welcome! I’m Stacey Street, a painter and sculptor living and working in Chicago. I’m so glad you’ve found your way here. This blog will be a space where I share glimpses into my studio life, upcoming exhibitions, inspirations, and the many ways art connects us to both place and memory.
Roots in Nature, Life in the City
Winter's Edge, 2025, oil on canvas.
I grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas, spending weekends exploring my parents’ cattle ranches. The woods, ponds, and winding streams shaped my imagination from the beginning. Later, when I moved to Chicago after college, the skyline and city energy immediately felt like home. That contrast—between my Southern roots and my urban present—continues to guide my creative vision as an artist.
From MFA to Pilsen Studio
After earning my MFA in Painting and Drawing from San Francisco’s Academy of Art University in 2017, I settled into my Pilsen neighborhood studio in Chicago, where I create everything from large cityscape paintings to intimate depictions of moths, sculptures, and even whimsical holiday ornaments. I also spend part of my time in the mountains of Blue River, Colorado, which adds yet another layer of inspiration to my work.
Exhibitions & Collections
Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to share my art through exhibitions such as:
-
Far Flung: Contemporary Art of the Midwest in Chicago
-
Hidden Realms of China in Wisconsin
Burton Street, 2005, Stacey B Street, Original Sold, prints available
Alongside these shows, I’ve worked on personal commissions—each one a collaboration that brought a unique story to life. My work has also found homes in private collections across the U.S., from Chicago and Seattle to Little Rock and Naples, Florida.
My Artistic Vision
What ties it all together is a joyful, optimistic lens through which I see the world. I believe art doesn’t need to conform to antiquated rules or fleeting trends—it can simply reflect the beauty of a healthy mind, a meaningful life, and the ordinary magic all around us.
When I paint a Chicago cityscape or sculpt a new form, I aim to capture both the external scene and the internal emotion — the way the skyline feels at sunrise, or how a familiar street corner holds a story.
Join Me on the Journey
Thank you for joining me on this journey. I’ll be posting here regularly with updates on new work, exhibitions, and stories from the studio. I hope this space becomes a window into the colorful and magical way I experience the world as a Chicago artist and painter of cityscapes.
With gratitude,
Stacey
