Have you watched Dark Matter? Then you've seen my work!

Sometimes the most meaningful opportunities begin in familiar places. I first met the set decorator for the television series Dark Matter during my exhibition at the Palette & Chisel Academy of Fine Arts. It was one of those wonderful art-world moments where conversation and creativity meet — and it eventually led to something truly special.

Several of my paintings were selected to appear in Dark Matter, a co-production between Apple Studios and Sony Pictures Television. I signed a contract with Sony for the artwork rental — which, for an artist, was pretty exciting! I’m so grateful and proud to see my work representing Chicago on screen.

Among the featured pieces were paintings from my Rooftop Skyline Series, including Rooftop Blue and City Glow, along with my large oil paintings State Street Bridge and Duck, Duck. Seeing them on television was such a thrill — a reminder that art tells stories everywhere, not only in galleries and homes, but even on a set.

Why I Love Renting Artwork for Productions

One of the things I love most about being an artist is seeing my work live new lives in unexpected places. Renting artwork for film and television productions is such a cool opportunity because paintings don’t just fill a wall — they create atmosphere. They help make a set feel authentic and alive, whether it’s a Chicago apartment, an office, or a cozy living room on screen.

For me, there’s something magical about a director choosing a cityscape painting to set the tone of a scene. It shows how much art connects us to a place — especially when it’s the Chicago skyline.

My Journey So Far

This isn’t the first time my art has stepped outside the traditional gallery setting. Over the years, I’ve shared my work in exhibitions across Chicago and beyond, collaborated on personal commissions, and now had the joy of seeing my paintings play a role in a TV production. Every time one of my pieces finds a new home — whether with a collector, in an exhibition, or on a screen — it feels like another exciting chapter in my creative journey.

Let’s Collaborate

If you’re a producer, set designer, or creative director, I’d love to work with you on your next project. Renting artwork is a wonderful way to give your production unique character while also supporting local artists.

Thank you for celebrating this milestone with me. I can’t wait to share more adventures — from my Pilsen studio to galleries, private collections, and now, even television screens!

With gratitude,
Stacey
